Penny Beschizza

  • Sign language teacher
  • Professional Support

Penny entered teaching "by accident" at the City Lit, Southwark College & most London Boroughs from 1989 onwards.
Currently, after the pandemic, she is freelance; covering a fascinating & rewarding range of p/t teaching roles.

From 1989 till even now, she has two main strands careerwise: BSL teacher & a teacher of Deaf Learners in post-school education. Currently she supports Deaf undergraduates' degree learning.
She uses visualisations & 3D linguistic awareness in all of her BSL teaching, with strands of Deaf BSL origins & intrinsic Deaf Culture.
In supporting Deaf Learners, she uses creative ways to highlight efficient study skills, world knowledge & lifeskills in their studies. She has Assessor qualifications.

Penny uses a great deal of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion values throughout her work. As a former textiles handweaver / designer, she transfers these intricate skills into her teaching.
